AI for Autism Research

We're exploring how artificial intelligence can improve health outcomes for individuals on the autism spectrum—through personalized interventions, early detection tools, and support systems for families and caregivers.

Our Focus

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) affects approximately 1 in 36 children in North America, yet access to early diagnosis and evidence-based interventions remains limited. We believe AI can help bridge this gap by making assessment tools more accessible, personalizing treatment approaches, and supporting the clinical workforce.

Our Projects

We're actively building technology to support autism care in Canada:

Areas of Exploration

Early Detection & Screening

AI-powered screening tools could help identify early signs of autism, enabling earlier intervention when it's most effective. We're exploring computer vision and natural language processing approaches that could augment—not replace—clinical assessment.

Personalized Treatment Planning

Every individual with autism is unique. We're investigating how machine learning can help clinicians develop more personalized treatment plans by analyzing patterns across large datasets while respecting privacy and data sovereignty requirements.

Caregiver & Family Support

Supporting families is crucial. We're exploring AI-powered tools that can help caregivers track progress, access resources, and connect with support networks—all while maintaining the human connection that's central to care.

Our Approach

We approach this work with humility and a commitment to ethical AI development. This means:

  • Working closely with clinicians, researchers, and families
  • Prioritizing privacy and Canadian data residency
  • Building tools that augment human expertise, not replace it
  • Ensuring equitable access to any tools we develop
  • Publishing our findings to advance the broader field

Get Involved

We're actively seeking research partners, clinical collaborators, and organizations who share our vision. If you're working in autism research or care and interested in exploring how AI might support your work, we'd love to hear from you.
